10 Everyday Things That You’re Doing Wrong

There are many things that we have done every single day since the day that we were born that have become part of the routine. We sleep, eat, drink and poop but we might be doing these routine things the wrong way.

Holding a drink

When it comes to holding your drink the first thing to remember is that your hands conduct heat and as a result, they may warm up your beverage if you are holding your bottle or glass in the wrong place. It is most natural for us to hold the largest part of the bottle or glass but that is the wrong way to do it. You should hold your bottle by the neck and you should hold your glass by the stem.

Peeling a banana

Most people try to open bananas by the stem, which sometimes results in a smashed top or bruises. To do this properly, we take notes from the monkeys who turn the banana upside down and open it from the base. If you pinch the base, it easily splits revealing your bruise free banana.

Brushing your teeth

Brushing your teeth seems like it would be a straight forward process but many people get this wrong as well. First start out with just a small dab of toothpaste. Do not apply too much pressure when you are brushing to avoid damaging the enamel. Take your time when brushing, spend at least 30 seconds on each quadrant. Lastly, never brush your teeth right after you eat. Some foods weaken your enamel, so brushing right after eating will damage the enamel.

Cooling a bottled drink

When trying to cool a warm beverage most people will put the bottle into the freezer in an attempt to have it cool quickly. But there is an even faster way. Wrap a wet paper towel around the bottle before you put it into the freezer. This will cool your drink in fifteen minutes or less. On the other hand, if you’re are headed out with a drinks cooler, add some salt to the ice as it will absorb the heat from the drinks.

Wearing earbuds

There’s nothing more annoying than earbuds that don’t fit and constantly fall out of your ears. But this may be due to the fact that you are wearing them incorrectly. Earbuds weren’t meant to be worn straight into the ears instead you should insert them upside down, loop them over and behind your ears. This will ensure that the cord does not snag on anything and they will not fall out of your ears as much.

Microwaving

Microwaves are designed to heat food evenly, but they have a tough time doing that when the food is piled high in the middle of the plate. As a result, you should try spreading your food in a doughnut shape around the rim of your plate. Heat in one-minute intervals, stirring in between and to add moisture, put a cup full of water into the microwave with your food.

Cooking spaghetti

Spaghetti is one of the easiest things to cook but it is best cooked in a large pot so that it has space to move. Also, in order to prevent the pot from boiling over lay a wooden spoon across the top.

Sleeping

The best sleeping position is on your back with a pillow beneath your knees. Another good position is on your side with a pillow between your legs to keep your spine aligned. Keep the light in your room to a minimum and do not watch TV, use your iPad or use your cell phone before bed.

Untying a knot

Do not pinch the knot, use a book or spoon to keep it flat then twist. Then push the twisted part toward the knot. A corkscrew is another useful tool that allows you to loosen knots easily.

Pooping

Most people sit upright with their legs at a 90-degree angle but it is better to use a stool so that you sit at a 35 degree angle. This will allow you to have a healthier, easier poop.
